New YouTube Playlist

(11:51HR GMT) Today I’ve been working on a new playlist. It contains  classic versions of the tracks that I at in my Brazilian Bossa Nova and MPB set. Useful for me for reference purposes and good for anyone else who enjoy the music style or wants to hear more examples of what it sounds like. You can find the playlist on my channel. 🙂 http://www.youtube.com/user/DaveHolmesMusicTV

Blast From The Past

Yesterday I found a medley of tunes from a classical guitar quartet I was in at music college in 1993, 21 years ago (although it possibly might be 1994). I transferred the cassette to wav a few years back. I was playing the lowest part througout, so that’s me playing the guitar on the intro of the second track in the medley)The musicians were our genius music teacher Andy Moss (the now Reverend Andrew from Crawley Catholic Church), Andy Britton one half of music production experts Sleepy House and Amanda Cook, who…

Born To Bossa – Volume I

So here’s the album cover for Born To Bossa – Volume I !   The back cover is pretty much ready too. The tracks have been whittled down to 18 which are currently being mastered by the talented producer K37.  Donors to the recording session will still receive the other 16 tracks that I recorded as unreleased unmastered demos. I may use some of those on Volume II, or I may rerecord them if I can get back to the studio, as I think i could do them even better, although…

Instagram in an instant, man!

(18:50HR GMT)Hey guys! Well, I did it, I set up Instagram today. So I will be capturing many a good moment during 2014 and beyond straight from my phone. Here’s a pic of the office at home (where I am sitting right now) to start things off. Today I also confirmed some of the details for the February recording session with my buddy Rich, from Area18 studios. I’ll be digging out some cassette tapes of old sessions and tracks that I’ve put together over the years and converting them to…

An evening of Joyce – @ Ronnie Scott’s 13th Jan 2015

In January I went to see Brazilian legend Joyce Moreno play with her band in Ronnie Scott’s in London. The gig was amazing, and I wrote a review of it, which is up on the B.Nova website. Joyce even posted a link to it on her facebook page. One of our Bnova Embassadors, Dave Holmes, caught a performance of Joyce Moreno on Tuesday night.. here’s what happened I arrived into the heart of London, and headed out into the chill of the evening, just as it started to rain upon me. It…

Welcome to my new blog, on my new web page! Today I was due to go busking but ended up at home instead, so I thought it was about time to get my site sorted and free myself from being controlled by social media; instead, I am using it to my advantage by embedding it on a site that I have more control over! So, exciting things are expected in 2014: Firstly, on February 11th I will be recording my live set at Area18 studios in London! Thanks to all who…

Belgium Bossa

I’ve had a busy time since arriving in Belgium yesterday, so busy that it’s been tricky to make time to stop and update my social media pages, especially so without internet on my mobile phone.. but all is good, great in fact! I am really enjoying it here. Currently I am in Liège staying with producer friend Luc (aka lucky one – www.luckyone.be).  Last night he and I spent some time in the studio starting a track and today I woke up early and caught a bus to the city…
